Noise subtraction with parametric recursive gain curves

چکیده
A well known technique for speech enhancement is spectral subtraction. This technique is attractive due to its simplicity and its low computational cost. We have proposed a simple modi cation of the lter coe cient calculation in form of a recursion of the previous lter coe cient. Because of this recursion the subtraction rule (gain curve) consists of two di erent paths, one for increasing signal-to-noiseratio and another for the decreasing ratio. In this paper we will introduce a parametric version of this recursive approach with two parameters controlling the crossover behaviour of the two paths. Although this recursive version is a very simple algorithm it is easily adjusted to produce no musical noise and additionally to get low speech distortion and/or low residual noise.

Spectral noise subtraction with recursive gain curves
A well known technique for speech enhancement is spectral subtraction. This technique is attractive due to its simplicity and its low computational cost. However, spectral subtraction has the drawback of generating residual noise with a musical character, the so-called musical noise. In this paper, we propose a simple modi cation of the lter coe cient calculation in form of a recursion of the p...
متن کاملStereophonic Noise Reduction by a Combined Non-recursive Multi-stage Sliding Subspace Projection and Adaptive Signal Enhancement
This paper proposes a novel broad-band noise reduction technique in stereophonic situations. The method utilises a combined non-recursive multi-stage sliding subspace projection and adaptive signal enhancement. Simulation results based upon real stereophonic speech contaminated by broad-band noise components show that the proposed method yields a performance improvement in the speech enhancemen...
متن کاملA single channel speech enhancement technique exploiting human auditory masking properties
To enhance extreme corrupted speech signals, an Improved Psychoacoustically Motivated Spectral Weighting Rule (IPMSWR) is proposed, that controls the predefined residual noise level by a time-frequency dependent parameter. Unlike conventional Psychoacoustically Motivated Spectral Weighting Rules (PMSWR), the level of the residual noise is here varied throughout the enhanced speech based on the ...
متن کاملA Modified Speech Enhancement Using Adaptive Gain Equalizer with Non linear Spectral Subtraction for Robust Speech Recognition
In this paper we present an enhanced noise reduction method for robust speech recognition using Adaptive Gain Equalizer with Non linear Spectral Subtraction. In Adaptive Gain Equalizer method (AGE), the input signal is divided into a number of subbands that are individually weighed in time domain, in accordance to the short time Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) in each subband estimation at every ti...
متن کاملRemoving ECG Artifact from the Surface EMG Signal Using Adaptive Subtraction Technique
Background: The electrocardiogram artifact is a major contamination in the electromyogram signals when electromyogram signal is recorded from upper trunk muscles and because of that the contaminated electromyogram is not useful. Objective: Removing electrocardiogram contamination from electromyogram signals. Methods: In this paper, the clean electromyogram signal, electrocardiogram artifact and e...
